Description: State College Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers over 43,000 meal each year to homebound persons in the Centre Region (state College Area School District). Since 1971, over one million meals have been served! No government tax dollars are used to fund this non-profit home delivered meal program. More than 200 volunteers and a staff of three make this service possible. Nutritious meals are planned by the registered, licensed dietitian, prepared in the kitchen of Grace Lutheran Church, and delivered to the homes of the clients each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, along with a friendly visit by the volunteer. This service helps maintain good nutrition for the clients so that they can remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Special diets as prescribed by a physician are available. Homebound persons of any age or economic ability to pay for services may apply by calling (814) 237-8135.
